ROCKY HORROR SHOW CREATOR PRESENTS FANTASTIC FUNERALS, CRAZY COFFINS, WEIRD WILLS AND UNEXPLAINED DEATHS IN A SERIES TO DIE FOR….
Rocky Horror Show creator Richard O'Brien returns to our tv screens this summer, searching for strange, unusual and alternative death-related tales. Richard O'Brien's Dead Strange will see the actor and broadcaster investigating bizarre and unexplained deaths, weird wills and fantastic funerals - past, present or future. The late night series starts airing on ITV Westcountry in July 08 and Richard is looking to hear from anyone with an interesting tale to tell….
Perhaps you've been left something unusual in a will, are making outlandish plans for your own funeral, or maybe you just collect stuff that's death-related. Perhaps you are in a business offering new, alternative and even quirky ways of dealing with death and would like to tell your story.
From Volkswagen Camper-van like hearses, ashes being turned into diamonds and glass to the historical stories like the mystery of Jay’s Grave on Dartmoor, the faked death of the artist,Robert Lenkiewicz and the 1920’s surfing pioneers practicing on coffin lids, the series aims to take a different look at all things connected to the one thing guaranteed to hit us all.
"In TV terms, death is the last great taboo", says series producer Jeremy Hibbard of Modbury-based production company Televisionary. "But this is very much a celebration of death and it's lighter side where sometimes truth is stranger than fiction." "Of course every death is a tragedy, but sometimes those who've gone leave us with puzzles or even something to smile at and there'll be plenty of people out there who are already planning ahead for when they go."
If you've got a tale to tell Richard O'Brien wants to hear from you. He can be contacted via the production company at deadstrange@televisionary.co.uk. or speak to Gemma Selley on 01548 831593
