New to Beetle Drive for 2009 is our beautiful newly refurbished 1969 bay window bus 'Otis'.

This little chap is an early Bay window VW passenger bus, he is a 1969 right hand drive, 1641 cc aircooled vehicle painted in VW candy white. He arrived in the UK along with 'Milo' early 2009 from Indonesia and has had extensive work carried out to get him to this amazing standard.  'Otis' has the usual Beetle Drive styling to include our trademark eye lids on his headlamps and a snug interior suitable for great wedding photos. He also has an awesome stereo system and DVD player for your favourite tunes.

Named after 'Otis Reading (Wedding!)' for his song 'Sitting on the dock of a Bay' our Otis is now available to hire.

We think he is awesome, definitely one of the best Bay Buses you will ever see. We will be showing Otis at VW events this year. Otis was at Camper Jam, Weston Hall July 09 and won his first trophy.

Otis has a hand built bespoke interior designed to our own spec, with a champagne area, DVD (located in the dash) and a removable table. He is very photogenic for your interior photographs. A step is included to help passengers climb in.

We are often asked to use our larger cars / buses to shuttle guests from Church to reception etc. where possible we may provide two runs from church/ ceremony if the distance is very local otherwise I'm sorry we can not provide this type of hire. Wedding hire is for the immediate wedding party (grooms party, bridal party and parents) otherwise you will require a licensed taxi service. When asking for more than one trip to church / reception please remember the time it will take the car to do this as you will need to add the return journey time, example if it is 15 minutes to the church and you require 2 trips the first party of passengers must leave around an hour prior to the ceremony time to allow for traffic and getting into and out of the car and photo's etc. Where a registrar is taking the service you must allow arrival 15 minutes prior to the ceremony time. If you are late they are entitled to refuse to marry you! Wedding car hire is only available on the day of the actual wedding otherwise you the hire becomes private hire for which you have to be a licensed (taxi) vehicle.

The rear styling of the VW buses is very similar, the split screen and early bay window buses were almost identical. They changed slightly in 1972!

Booking both VW buses is very cool but be quick these guys are very popular!

Bride and Groom had their reception in a field (with a marquee), the wedding night was spent in their own blue VW campervan! now that is dedication for you so we felt it was only right to get Otis down to the pitch and have his photo taken!

Our Bride here was just loving Otis, it's fair to say she really made the best of him on her day, now thats what we like.

Sorry Otis is not available for prom hire or special occasions hire, you need to be private hire licensed to do that and I'm afraid he's to old!

Otis will be waiting for you when you come out of the ceremony with some refreshment.

This is not a camper van used for our holidays, this vehicle is specifically designed to carry passengers for your special day so you won't find a cooker or sink in here! The interior is designed to give you wonderful wedding pictures and there is ample space for a bride with a large dress.

This bus does not have seat belts in the rear of the vehicle and so is not suitable for very young children under 3 years old. A forward facing child seat may be used in the front passenger seat.

Otis has white walls on his tires and a nice set of white Wolfsburg logo mud flaps that set him off very nicely.

Tip: When shopping around for wedding cars always ask the company offering the cars if it's possible to view them, if this is not possible do not book! Does the web site have full contact details and land line number and address of the owners? if not think twice, it is a legal requirement to add correct contact details if you are trading as a business.   Remember photos you are looking at on brochures and web sites may have been taken 10 years ago and may not reflect the condition of the car today. Always ask what back up plan they have in case of a break down or a problem with the car prior to your day. We welcome viewings by appointment only and can accommodate week days and early evenings, I'm afraid we can not always cater for weekends due to the nature of our business but you are welcome to come and see us in action at a wedding if we are in your area. That is the best way to find out how good a company really is!

CHILD CAR SEATS CAN ONLY BE FITTED TO FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IN OTIS. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SUITABLE TO FIT THESE SEATS IN THE REAR. IT IS ILLEGAL FOR ANY CHILD TO TRAVEL IN THIS VEHICLE UNDER 3 YEARS OLD WITHOUT A CHILD CAR SEAT FITTED. It is not our responsibility to make sure that child seats can be fitted, if in doubt you are welcome to come and see us and satisfy yourselves that your seat will fit correctly.

This Bus had a bare metal respray, meaning all the previous paint has been removed any rusty or dented panels were replaced so he will look brand new even though he's 40 years old.

His interior is hand built   and has been upholstered in colours similar to 'Casper' our split screen bus.

This was originally a micro bus or mini bus so has rear opening windows.

Brand new complete interior has being fitted to include full head lining, side and door coverings and carpet.

Seating for 6 passengers in the rear.

Even the underside, engine bay and inner arches are completely refurbished and painted to finish the job professionally.

The lazer cut VW design in the front of the camper makes Edna unique just like the people who have travelled in her. Edna has been a popular choice for civil ceremonies this year and we have had some great fun travelling all over listening to her funky get you in the party mood tunes. In fact on every occasion I have driven Edna her passengers have sang all the way to their destination.
